The season concert by the KSO on the 1st of October takes listeners on an unforgettable journey together with the harmonica quartet Sväng. The performance combines the rich sonic world of four harmonicas with the symphonic sound of the orchestra. The concert’s central theme is tango, but the programme also features Balkan rhythms, music by Sibelius, Chopin and more. The orchestra will be conducted by Janne Nisonen.

The Kuopio Symphony Orchestra consists of 44 musicians. The KSO musicians represent well over 10 different nationalities and therefore the orchestra’s working language is English. The Chief Conductor of the KSO is Jaakko Kuusisto. Atso Almila acts as the Second Conductor. In 2010 professor and maestro Jorma Panula was appointed as the orchestra’s Honorary Conductor.
The Kuopio Symphony Orchestra wants to introduce various audience groups to the world of music by organizing diverse concerts and special events. The main point is to give artistic experiences, to increase public awareness and knowledge of orchestral music and other forms of art music and also to develop people’s cultural competence.
Enjoy our concerts in YouTube. The orchestra's YouTube Channel introduces concerts by the KSO chamber music ensembles and individual musicians as well as the whole Kuopio Symphohy Orchestra. The concerts have been either recorded or livestreamed from Restaurant Maxim in Kuopio or at the orchestra’s home, ie. at the Kuopio Music Centre.
