What connects Antti Tuisku, Juha Tapio, Jenni Vartiainen, Kaija Koo, and Vesala? The songs created by Jurek Reunamäki! The Kuopio Symphony Orchestra is launching a new, multi-year series of entertainment concerts in honor of the Kuopio city’s 250th anniversary. What better way to kick it off than by celebrating the city’s own son, Jurek Reunamäki, and his music?
Jurek Reunamäki is one of Finland’s most successful songwriters and producers. Known by his artist name Jurek, this guru of the Finnish music scene has been working behind the scenes with the country’s brightest pop stars as a songwriter and producer for years.
The unique evening will feature soloists such as the diamond duo known from the TV music program Elämäni biisi, the ever-wonderful Diandra and the charismatic Lauri Mikkola, who will interpret beloved Finnish hits accompanied by the Kuopio symphony orchestra.
During the concert, Jurek will be interviewed by Pekka Ruuska, a singer-songwriter himself and a later record company mogul who gave Jurek his first opportunities to create songs. Ruuska and Reunamäki will discuss the backgrounds of the songs, Reunamäki’s career, collaborators, and anecdotes in between the performances. Join us for an entertaining evening with the best domestic pop music of our time.
The arrangements for a symphonic ensemble are made by composer-arranger Pessi Levanto, who will also conduct the concert.
